What Am I Free From?

When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” Then bowing His head, He gave up His spirit. John 19:30

When Jesus was nailed to the cross, He said “It is finished!” If I was present at that specific time,

I probably would have asked Him. What exactly are you implying? I believe there is a problem.

The problem is we lack the understanding as to the amount of volumes those three little words

speak. When you hear “It is finished!” What definition really comes to your mind? What comes to

my mind is—my assignment is already completed; therefore, I am unstoppable.

Let us not forget what Jesus went through for us, he went through crucifixion so we could be set

free from:

● MENTAL SLAVERY - Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the

renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect

will of God (Romans 12:2). There is a phrase that goes like this “Your mind is the

battlefield”. This is not a lie, it is the truth. What keep us back from walking in the liberty

that God has called us to is our state of mind. Many Christians have committed suicide

over the past few years because they have allowed negative voices to over power the

word in them. Would you choose to renew your mind today? Would you start to think and

act like Christ?

● POVERTY - Poverty is not the lack of money. Poverty is a state of mindset. For as he

thinks in his heart, so is he (Proverbs 23:7). Your lack of financial stability is not because

you do not have treasures on the inside of you that you and the world is yet to discover,

it is because of the way you think”. You have the Holy Ghost in you that will enable you

to obtain wealth (Deuteronomy 8:18). You may have come from a family who weren’t in

a position to provide for you in ways you may have wanted them to, but I am hear to

articulate to you; you were not created poor. You are a treasure box and you have

treasures on the inside.

● SORROW - For His anger lasts only a moment, but His favor, a lifetime. Weeping may

spend the night, but there is joy in the morning (Psalm 30:5). Before having a firm

relationship with God, we all can testify to the truth that sorrow consumed our being. No

matter how rich or powerful you may have been before saying yes to God, there was

always a void deep within. During our hardest moments, we could have easily given up,

but God has a purpose attached to our names, this is why our sorrowful past could not

have killed us and still cannot. As children of God, our morning has come, no more living

in the night. Sometimes it may seems as if you are, but the Holy Ghost is right there to

comfort you when you allow Him to. The world doesn't have what we have—Holy Ghost.

● GENERATIONAL CURSES - Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old

things have passed away, and look, new things have come (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Whatever your mother and father went through has no access to your life unless you

give permission. How do you give permission? You grant permission when you refuse to

walk by faith and obedience to God’s word. So what if your mother never attended

college! Who told you this is also your destiny? As a matter of fact that is not even your

mother’s destiny, Jesus has the power to alter it and use her for His glory if she chooses

to totally surrender. Let us always keep in mind: We are not our biological parents—we

have the same DNA as our forefathers (Abraham, Isaac and Israel).

The scripture declares:

I will make you into a great nation,

I will bless you,

I will make your name great,

and you will be a blessing. Genesis 12:2 (HCSB)

God will bless us and make our names great, so that we can intern bless others. If God said it

then that settles it.

we continue this month series called “Set Free”.
